Food in Korea

Kimchi

The most representative food in Korea is radish, Chinese cabbage and cucumber, etc. preserved with salt, spices like pepper, garlic, leek, etc. are added and mixed; after fermentation it becomes Kimchi. This food is found anywhere in the world where Korean people live, more than any other vegetable of processed food. Therefore, when Korean food culture is introduced to foreigners, Kimchi is the first food that is offered.
Kimchi varies depending on location and ingredients; there are many different kinds and various tastes. The most famous regional Kimchi are Korean lettuce Kimchi and Onion Kimchi of Jeollado, pumpkin Kimchi of Hwanghae-do and winter solstice Kimchi of Jeju Island. Kimchi reaches a different taste depending on ingredients and spices. A deep taste is achieved by shrimp or fish that is conserved in salt and soy sauce for a long period of time.

Bulgogi

Bulgogi is the most typical food of Korea, together with Kimchi. Beef is the main ingredient for this food. Different spices are used to create a taste of sweet, spicy, sharp and savory.
This food is already widely known by foreigners; the typical Korean food suits the taste of Asian and Western people, and therefore very popular. It also provides a different experience to grill the meat on the table. While it is roasted, a savory flavor fills the room.

Samgyetang

The most representative healthy food during summer; the main ingredients for Samgyetang are chicken, Ginseng, Jujube, chestnuts; traditional food where ingredients are boiled together. It is said that this food combines the harmony of cosmic dual forces. Korean people have the tradition to eat this food during hot and exhausting summer to stay healthy. The food is known in the whole world for its mild and plain taste and suits taste.

Bibimbab

Bibimbab is the symbol of fusion in the Korean culture. The ingredients for Bibimbab are various wild vegetables and greens, vegetables, meat, eggs, hot chilly paste. Everything is mixed together; depending on the ingredients, there are various types of Bibimbab. In places like the US, Bibimbab is a popular well-being food with low calories and a high amount of nutrition.
Korean food uses various ingredients of special products depending on the season and region. Due to the variety of flavors during one single meal, meals will be a great experience for everybody.
